Fire at Wat Mae Luang, Mae Moh District, Northern Thailand













A fire has broken out at Wat Mae Luang, Mae Moh District in Northern Thailand on Wednesday, 29 March, 2023. Large parts of the temple have unfortunately destroyed.

The abbot of Wat Mae Luang reportedly that the 200-year-old teak wood chapel nobody was in the chapel at the time of the fire, thus no one was injured.

Several fire trucks rushed to the temple and it took firefighters about 40 minutes to get the fire under control.

Many Buddha statues, which were thought to be several hundred years old, were destroyed, due to fire damage.

This temple is situated near to where Ajarn Measi resides. Temple has reached out to the local community for help in the restoration of the temple, including the rebuilding of roof and the interior hall for worshiping that have been burnt down, the Buddha Statues that have been destroyed.
