Fund raise for Casting Lp Sao Statue & Painting of Big Buddha Statue

Hi all, we will be initiate 2 fund raise event for the following below which is (1) the casting of the Luang pu Sao Statue to be installed in the Sima Building at Wat Santiwanaram , Chanthaburi Province which any excess will go to the sala construction and (2) the painting of the external big buddha statue on the pavillion infront of the Sima Building.

November 2 — Commemorating the 166th Birth Anniversary of Luang Pu Sao Kantasīlo

Today marks the 166th anniversary of the birth of Luang Pu Sao Kantasīlo, the Great Founding Master of the Vipassanā Meditation Tradition.

Luang Pu Sao Kantasīlo was born on November 2, 1859 (B.E. 2402)at Ban Kha Khom, Nong Khon Subdistrict, Mueang District, Ubon Ratchathani Province.
He was the son of Mr. Tha and Mrs. Mo, and had four siblings.

At the age of 12, he entered Wat Tai in Ubon Ratchathani to live and serve under the monks.
When he was 15 years old (B.E. 2417), he was ordained as a novice at Wat Tai, under the Mahanikaya sect.

In B.E. 2422 (1879), he received full ordination as a bhikkhu (monk) at the same temple — Wat Tai (Wat Phra Chao Yai Ong Tue) — and remained there for ten rainy seasons.

In B.E. 2432 (1889), upon listening to Dhamma teachings from Venerable Thewathammī (Mao)**, he developed deep faith and took him as his teacher. He then underwent **reordination in the Dhammayuttika Nikaya at Wat Sī Thong (Wat Si Ubon Rattanaram), Ubon Ratchathani.
His preceptor (upajjhāya) was *Phra Khru Tha Chotipālo*, with *Chao Athikan Sitha Chayaseno* serving as kammavācācariya.

Between B.E. 2459–2464 (1916–1921), Luang Pu Sao resided in seclusion at Tham Champa, Phu Pha Kut, Nong Sung Subdistrict, Khamcha-i District, Mukdahan Province, where he practiced together with Venerable Ajahn Mun Bhuridatta Thera.

One day, while sitting alone in deep solitude, Luang Pu Sao contemplated the Noble Truths  and realized them in their true nature. On that very day, all his doubts were utterly extinguished.
As the time for the end of the rains retreat (Pavarana) approached, he had attained full realization of the truth and said to Venerable Ajahn Mun Bhuridatta:

 “I have given up the aspiration to become a Pacceka Buddha (Silent Buddha).
 I have now seen the Dhamma as it truly is.”

Hearing this, Ajahn Mun was overjoyed and knew intuitively through his meditative insight that:

 “Luang Pu Sao Kantasīlo has indeed attained liberation in this very lifetime.”

Luang Pu Sao entered Anupādisesa-Nibbāna (final Nibbāna without remainder) peacefully, with mindfulness fully present, as he was bowing before the principal Buddha image in the ordination hall of Wat Amatyaram, Champasak, Laos, on Tuesday, February 3, 1942 (B.E. 2485), the third waning day of the third lunar month, Year of the Horse, at the age of 82 years, with 62 vassa (rains retreats).

今日纪念──隆普少甘达西罗诞辰166周年

今天（11月2日）是**隆普绍·甘达西罗尊者（Luang Pu Sao Kantasīlo）诞辰166周年纪念日。
他是泰国南传上座部佛教内观禅修（毗婆舍那）宗派的开山祖师之一。

隆普少尊者于公元1859年（佛历2402年11月2日）出生于乌汶叻差他尼府直辖县农坤分区卡空村。父母为他·摩夫妇，共有五位兄弟姊妹。

尊者自12岁起便入乌汶的塔寺（Wat Tai）出家为寺童，服侍僧众。
15岁（佛历2417年）时，在塔寺剃度为沙弥，属大宗派（Mahanikaya）。

佛历2422年（1879年），尊者于同一寺院——塔寺（现名：Wat Phra Chao Yai Ong Tue）受具足戒为比丘，并于该寺安居十个雨季。

佛历2432年（1889年），尊者聆听到提瓦塔弥（Thewathammī, 又名Mao）尊者的开示，深生信心，于是礼为师长，并决定重新受戒。他在乌汶市Wat Si Thong（今Wat Si Ubon Rattanaram）受法宗派（Dhammayuttika Nikaya）具足戒。
得长老他·乔提巴罗（Phra Khru Tha Chotipālo）为戒师（Upajjhāya），住持斯塔·查耶塞诺（Chao Athikan Sitha Chayaseno）为说戒师（Kammavācācariya）。

于佛历2459–2464年（1916–1921年），隆普少尊者居于穆达汉府坎差益县农颂分区普帕古山占巴洞（Tham Champa, Phu Pha Kut），与隆普曼·布里达多尊者（Luang Pu Mun Bhuridatta Thera）共同修行。

某日，隆普少独自在寂静处禅坐，观照四圣谛而彻见实相，当下断除一切疑惑。
临近出安居节（Pavarana）时，他已彻知诸法实相，遂对隆普曼尊者说道：

 “我已放弃求作独觉佛（辟支佛）的愿望，
 我已经如实见到真理。”

隆普曼尊者闻之大为欢喜，并以禅定慧观得知：

“隆普绍·甘达西罗尊者于此生中，已得究竟解脱（Vimutti Dhamma）。”

隆普绍尊者于**佛历2485年（1942年）2月3日，星期二**，
农历三月初三（马年），
在老挝占巴塞府Wat Amatyaram寺，于礼拜佛像时，正念具足，安详入无余涅槃（Anupādisesa Nibbāna）。
世寿82岁，僧腊62年。
